Standing Here - Live in Colorado Recorded live in Denver, Colorado on May 2, 1981.
By the time this concert was recorded, Joe Cocker was coming to the end of a two-and-a-half year period during which he was without a recording contract, and in some cases, back to playing clubs. During this period Joe recorded "I'm So Glad I'm Standing Here Today" and "this Old World's Too Funky For Me" for the Crusaders' album "Standing Tall". Will Jennings' lyrics led to a Grammy nomination for best inspirational performance. The grammy wasn't to be, yet the performance together with the Crusaders was a success. It received a standing ovation and broadcasted on national (live) television across America. It triggered Joe's comeback.
The album, a 2 CD set, has also been released as Standing Here - Live in Denver.
It includes several live versions of Cocker's classics and previously unreleased "I Don't want to live without loving you" and the illusive "Sweet Forgiveness" which also appeared on the Live in New York set. Additional to that a few live versions of songs from "Luxary you can afford" his at the time previous album ('78), such as "I heard it through the grapevine" and a "Whiter Shade of Pale". The live concert also included "Seven Days" and "Shocked" which were released in studio version a year later on "Sheffield Steel" ('82). The live versions of this recording contain several songs not available on any of Joe's other live albums.
